 Database Setup Return Home

Your LetMeShop database will have to be setup by your hosting company or your server administrator.

The database for LetMeShop runs on Micorsoft® SQL Server 2000. Your LetMeShop files includes a zipped file called LMSData.zip. You will need to provide this file to your hosting company or server administrator.

Administrators: The file LMSData.zip contains a Microsoft® SQL Server 2000 database. You will need to attach the database to your SQL server.

Security: You will need to create a USER for your database and give the user read and write access to the database and the custom stored procedures in the database. All LetMeShop stored procedures start with "sp". We strongly recommend using a secure password for this account. We also recommend that the password be changed at least once every three months.

Your hosting company or server administrator will provide you with:

  • The DSN for the SQL server and/or database (DSN)
  • The database name
  • The database login (User ID)
  • The database password (Password)
  • Your LetMeShop Software License Number

You will be required to have these values when you run the database connection wizard.

Database Connection Wizard: After all program files are uploaded, the database has been installed and permissions set for everything you will need to run the database connection wizard. This wizard is located at www.yourdomain.com/_sitefiles/setup/setdbdsn.asp. You will be required to login using the Challenge/Response Login. Once you have successfully entered the login and password you will be required to enter the following information.

If you make a mistake you may run this script more than once. When you change your database password you will have to run this script again.
Caution: You MUST NOT change your User ID or LMS License ID once you have successfully run the Database Initializing Wizard. Doing so will cause the catalog software to malfunction.

Database Initialization Wizard: This wizard sets up all of the default data records necessary to operate your catalog.
  • Login: This is the main login for your store. It must be 6 to 12 characters and should contain upper and lower case letters and at least one number. It IS NOT the same as your Challenge/Response login and password. This login CANNOT change after you run this wizard and will remain the same for as long as you operate the catalog.
  • Password: This is your initial login to the administration section of your catalog. It must be 6 to 12 characters and should contain upper and lower case letters and at least one number. This password can be changed as often as you like through the Site User Administration section.

This wizard performs the following setup routines:

  • Resets all numbers in NUMBERS to 1000
  • Sets tblContact with the default login and password entered here
  • Creates the default "customer" email group
  • Creates the store_detail table with the store_ID
  • Updates tblSiteFeatures - resets the site id to this login
  • Updates Payment Types - resets store id to this login
  • Inserts permission records for this login in tblPermissions and tblAutoOrders

You are now ready to log in and begin building your online catalog.
