 Managing Products - Child Records Return Home 

LetMeShop products uses two records to define a product. The Parent record is used to describe a product class...product name, description, manufacturer, product image, etc. The Child record is used to enter the specifics of an individual item or stock code. The example below shows how the two records work together.

Parent Record:
    Product Name: Walker Shoes Loafer
    Product Description: Leather shoes with tassels

Child Record:
    Size: 8
    Price: 45.00
Child Record:
    Size: 10
    Price: 50.00

The parent record defines the product and the child records define a specific stock code.

 

Entering your Product - Child Records:

This is your product child administration page and contains the following input options:

Input Option Description
Product ID Not editable...Unique ID defining a set of product SKUs.
Stock Code This is the actual stock code, ISBN, SKU, etc., of the product you are selling. It must be unique.
Stock Detail Description This short description (maximum 80 characters) is the description printed on the checkout and order receipt page.
Product Size Weight in pounds (no fractions, decimal only):
Height, Width and Length are not used in this version.
Show Product in Catalog Check this box if you want this stock code to be included in the catalog
Attribute Fields Attribute values for attributes defined in the product parent record.
Price (1,2,3,4) You may define up to 4 pricing levels for your catalog. Price Level 1 is the default price. You have the option of applying a different price level to each individual customer.
Sale Price (1,2,3,4) You may define up to 4 sale price levels for your catalog. Sale Price Level 1 is the default. You have the option of applying a different price level to each individual customer.

Please NOTE: If you use multiple pricing levels for one product you MUST enter prices in all levels for all products.
Items for Quantity Discount This allows you to set up a single quantity level discount for this Stock Code. Enter the number of items the user must purchase to receive a discount.
Percent Discount This percentage discount is applied IF the quantity purchased is equal to or greater than the number entered in the field above. Must be entered as a decimal quantity (12% would be entered as .12)
Current Inventory LetMeShop tracks the number of items in inventory and removes the product from your catalog when the inventory reaches zero. If you do not want to use this feature enter a HUGE number for the inventory (999999999). Must be an integer.
